14 Apr 2025

In 2025, the BC PNP will prioritize healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, and skilled workers who create high economic impact in the province, due to a 50% reduction in BC's allocation. The program has 4,000 nominations, with 1,100 for new applications in these key sectors, and the remaining 2,900 to nominate applicants already received.

1. IPG applications from September 2024 to January 2025 will be waitlisted until more nominations become available. Other applications from 2024 and early 2025 will be processed in 2025.

2. No general or priority occupation ITAs in 2025. Limited ITAs will be issued for high economic impact candidates, expected to nominate around 100 individuals, the first in early May.

Invitations may also be issued to support the Province’s strategic goals. These factors – which may vary for each draw – will be published at the time of each invitation to apply.

3. ITAs will also be issued to Entrepreneur Immigration registrants.

4. Health Authority Stream: Eligibility restricted to healthcare positions directly involved in healthcare services, such as doctors, nurses allied health professionals.

You do not need to register for this stream. If you meet eligibility requirements, you can submit an application directly to the BC PNP.

To qualify for this stream, you must have an indeterminate (no defined end date), full-time job offer in one of the following health occupations:

An occupation identified by the NOC as a health occupation (any NOC that starts with a 3)

Social workers (NOC 41300)

Therapists in counselling and related specialized therapies (NOC 41301)

Social and community service workers (NOC 42201)

Physicians, nurse practitioners and midwives: be ready to work in your profession in B.C.

5. Early Childhood Educator Assistants are no longer part of targeted draws. Future targeted ITAs will focus on Early Childhood Educator positions.

6. Social Workers and Community Service Workers: Enhanced guidelines will be developed in consultation with the Ministry of Health.

7. The BC PNP aims to return to a 3-month service standard for new applications submitted in 2025.

8. Plans to launch three new student streams are paused until allocation levels are restored.

BC will continue to work with the federal government to extend work permits for nominees and advocate for increased allocations.
